For many pet owners, their pets become an essential part of their family, and Estelle Harris from Derbyshire, UK, is no different. Five years ago, Estelle adopted a dog named Bruce who quickly became an integral part of her life.

Estelle met Daniel Harris when Bruce was just a year old and they fell in love. They both agreed that Bruce would play a special role in their wedding plans when the time came.

However, in December, when the couple noticed that Bruce had white gums and a blue tongue, they took him to the vet, only to find out that he had a pleural effusion. Bruce’s condition was severe, and veterinarians drained fluid from around his lungs and heart. During his treatment, more tests were carried out, which revealed that Bruce had a grapefruit-sized tumor in his chest.

Bruce had to undergo surgery to remove the tumor, and the experience was incredibly emotional for his owners, Estelle and Daniel. They were devastated at the thought of losing their beloved dog.

Knowing that Bruce’s time with them may be limited, Estelle and Daniel decided to move up their wedding so that Bruce could be a part of their special day. They feared that this might be Bruce’s last adventure with them, and they wanted to make it a memorable one.
