A frightened dog was rescued from a horrific situation. Found on a West Oahu beach, the dog was dehydrated, sick, had missing fur and was covered in sores.
The rescue was carried out by PAWS of Hawaii, who named the dog Leialoha, which means “beloved child” in Hawaiian.

It was discovered that the dog had been buried alive and that the person responsible had a machete, leading to concerns about what could have happened to her.
Leialoha was extremely sick, with swollen legs, sunburn and missing fur. However, she was immediately attended to by vets, who applied coconut oil and SSD ointment to her skin, giving her some relief.

After being given the necessary medical attention, Leialoha’s health improved significantly. She started eating and gaining weight, and gradually became more active, moving around and exploring more of her surroundings.
Leialoha’s foster parents even posted an update, stating that she has “come so far.” Despite initially only leaving her kennel to go to the bathroom, she has now started venturing out and exploring her new environment, finding safety under a coffee table.
The people involved in rescuing Leialoha were appalled by the cruelty shown to her. However, they are now delighted that she is on the road to recovery and being treated with the love and respect that she deserves.
